Alastair McMurray, the managing director of medac Pharma has reached the half way point in his £100K Charity Sportathon for Bloodwise, Bowel Cancer UK and The Brain Tumour Charity.
His most recent challenge was cycling from Lands’ End in Cornwall to John O Groats over 10 days. This was an extremely tough challenge mentally and physically which was certainly much tougher than his first challenge of playing tennis for 12 hours.
Over the 10 days Ally battled extreme weather, tough roads, cycled for over 12 hours a day and suffered a few falls from his bike which meant he had to cycle the majority of the journey with bent handle bars.
Ally had some supporters along the route including friends, family and a surprise visit from 2 of the Managing Directors of medac GmbH (our headquarters in Germany) who arrived to cycle with Ally between Edinburgh and Perth.
Only the final day, Ally and team arrived in John O’ Groats at 6pm on Saturday night and celebrated with friends who had cycled the last few days with him and his family who met him there. Ally was helped along his journey by our National Sales Manager, Dean who cycled most of the way alongside him and by one of our Key Account Managers, Julie who supported both Dean and Ally from her camper van.
His next challenge is this Sunday (25th August) where he will swim 800 lengths (20 kilometres) of the Stirling University Swimming Pool in 9 hours. To sponsor Ally click here to be taken to his fundraising page.
